The king who ate 14 desserts, supposedly
Adolf Frederick of Sweden died on 12 February 1771. The popular story says it followed a meal of lobster, caviar, sauerkraut, kippers and champagne, finished with 14 helpings of semla in hot milk. Modern writers treat it as propaganda.
