A king's last stand in Moldova
After losing at Poltava, Charles XII lived for years in Ottoman territory at Bender. On 1 February 1713 the Ottomans attacked his camp to evict him, and with some 40 soldiers he held off many hundreds of Turks, sniping with a carbine himself.
