The emperor painted as a pile of vegetables
Rudolf II filled Prague Castle with astronomers, alchemists and curiosities. His court painter Giuseppe Arcimboldo portrayed him as Vertumnus, the Roman god of the seasons, made entirely of fruit, vegetables and flowers.
