The warship that sank in the harbour
Gustavus Adolphus ordered the warship Vasa, one of the most powerfully armed vessels in the world. On 10 August 1628 it sank about 1,300 metres into its maiden voyage, too top-heavy to stay upright. It was raised in 1961 and is now a museum.
