The year of Granada and Columbus

In 1492 Isabella of Castile and Ferdinand of Aragon finished the Reconquista, ordered the expulsion of Spain's Jews and paid for Columbus's voyage. As second cousins they had needed a papal dispensation to marry, and Cardinal Rodrigo Borgia helped them.
